Nebraska Cornhuskers Coach Fred Hoiberg Reveals Football Scholarship Offer

Nebraska Cornhuskers coach Fred Hoiberg once received a scholarship offer to play quarterback for the Cornhuskers football team. During a recent interview on the Carriker Chronicles, Hoiberg disclosed that he was offered a scholarship by then-football coach Tom Osborne. Hoiberg would go on to play basketball at Iowa State from 1991 to 1995. He was drafted by the Indiana Pacers in the second round of the 1995 NBA Draft. Hoiberg has coached both in the NBA and the college ranks with the Chicago Bulls and Iowa State. He has been the head coach at Nebraska since 2019 and has a record of 112-115 in Lincoln. He is coming off a 28-7 season that saw Nebraska make the Sweet 16 for the first time in program history.
